About – PRINCE / DAVID

Prince / David poster

From the company that brought you, ” Rumble!” and “She wears Scented Rose”, comes a gripping new thriller, “Prince / David”.

It’s 1999- and twenty-five-year-old Amber Da Costa vanishes without a trace from West London. A sketch of a man, last seen with her is issued but despite repeated appeals from the police, he never comes forward.
A young police officer, PC Lisa Stecklen, working on the case, believes the man in the sketch has abducted and killed her, very much to the chagrin of her superior, DI Nigel Harewood, who believes Amber has willingly eloped with the man. Amber is never found, and the case is left unsolved.

Now, in 2023, Stecklen, who has achieved the rank of Detective Sergeant, watches a news report about a man in his sixties, David Nicholls, who has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a woman, in Newcastle.
Despite the gap of twenty-four years and the distance of three hundred miles, DS Stecklen is convinced, Nicholls was the man in the sketch in 1999. More importantly, she believes David Nicholls is the man that abducted and killed Amber Da Costa. But can she prove it?

Prince / David is a brand-new production based on an original script. The story shines a light on the attitudes held by the police, media and society at large in the 90s, which not only placed women in vulnerable positions but greatly contributed to crimes against females being trivialized, ignored and largely dismissed. In light of recent issues, the play has become very topical.

The play contains strong language, adult themes, discussions on gender and race and descriptions of violence.
